I could care less about genre. I want hooks. Strong melodies. There isn't one strong melody on the entire album. If any other artist released a hook-free album like this, they'd be slaughtered, but because it's Beyonce and it was a surprise, people are gushing over it.

tbh, they can't. The second Katy, Britney, Rihanna, or Gaga do this, they are finished. Their fanbases are used to catchy poppy tunes. Beyonce has a huge fanbase that also enjoys R&B and Hip Hop, which don't always have catchy elements.
