You can't presume to say why she embarked on a world tour. You can't say that it was for greater exposure when she herself said the album would be out as early as April (The tour started in April), thereby making it far more likely that the tour was for new music as it now has become.
Of course releasing it in December is a great tactic, but you're just trying to find things to grasp to here. If she was truly and I mean 100% interested in sales and positions she would have released it on a Tuesday. Don't try and say otherwise because if you are interested in positions you're going to give yourself the best possible circumstances to succeed.
