Oh, yeah. That was a bit of a mess. I know Woody needed a tragic ending to complete the
Streetcar parallel, but it was too abrupt and jarring of a shift for the movie. I was also kind of hoping Cate's character would pull it together. She was weirdly sympathetic, which is a total testament to the performance.
(By the way, didn't that scene take place in San Francisco as well? Because then she goes to see her son in Oakland.)
