Record sales are declining each year and pop acts weren't commonly album pushers to begin with.

A lot of pop acts are struggling but we have to look at Gaga's situation from different angles.

Worldwide sales in the first three weeks:
ARTPOP: 938,000
Bangerz: 623,000
Prism: 824,000

Gaga's US sales are abysmal but she's pulling her weight worldwide. I don't have high hopes for either Gaga or Katy or any other strong act to reach 4-5 million numbers unless something drastic happens that gets people to buy music again.

So yeah, Gaga is kind of (KIND OF) flopping but so is everyone else when it comes to sales. If I'm not mistaken, the best selling album of this year has only done like 3 million.

That is why pop stars need to focus on singles to last. Look at Riri. She has the best strategy to be honest.

Am i the only one who is REALLY happy that ARTPOP underperformed? Her label will FORCE her to make those commercial songs (like Poker Face, Bad Romance) and we'll get lots of amazing songs/videos (not that experimental mini movie boring videos)

yeah, I love ARTPOP too, but there are no songs like Alejandro, Poker Face, Love Games… people want to hear those kind of songs from her but she keeps trying so hard
