The most important thing is that they're completely global. Bieber is and always has been relatively local. There's no comparison. The fact that Bieber got hit singles on the radio and still failed to sell is just more depressing.

"My World 2.0" which was Justin's peak, is just around "Up All Night" which was 1D's peak #'s though.

Justin has also delivered just as much sales with their 2 other albums with his other releases added up.

If they were replacing him they'd be able to outsell him a lot more + have single success. Not to mention Justin's amount of backlash compared to 1D's.
