So? Every Time > Come Back To Me. By the way, CBTM and LIAWTDM are worse than the few bad TVR tracks.
Also, TVR has Together Again - her best and most successful single, I Get Lonely, Velvet Rope...
RN has overrated singles like Miss You Much and Wiggum Nation. If anything it has Escapade and Alright... The rest falls short of the brilliance of ha Velvet Rope - an album supposed to have a dark and twisted atmosphere and accomplishes that. RN was supposed to be about politics and dance and half of it has nothing to do with it.
P.S. 20 Y.O. > Discipline. Any time, any place. The latter is cringe-worthy.
And what's "dark and twisted" about "Together Again", "Go Deep", and "Got Til It's Gone"?
RN1814 is not just about politics, it's social commentary, hence why it covers societal issues like racism, homelessness, and education just to name a few. The only songs on RN1814 that aren't socially conscious, the shtick used to sell the album, are MYM and more or less CBTM, everything else falls into place.
Also, I've bolded the fallacious speech in your post.
"Tonight's the Night" is my favorite song on TVR and I don't know why I everyone hates it. I love the opening and closing tracks too.
@Lately, okay FINE Control is more pointed and more coherent, but it just feels thin in comparison to janet. Once again, the vocals, lyricism, and production of the former are simply not as good as those on the latter. Control has useless filler too and no, not all of its tracks contribute to the album's central theme. "You Can Be Mine" is useless. "He Doesn't Even Know I'm Alive" is great, but pretty contradictory to goal of the work as a whole (This album was a statement of growth, maturity, and womanhood. HDEKIA is a statement of immature thinking, action, and prioritization [Silly teeny bopper ****]). "When I Think of You", another great track, doesn't have anything to do with anything either.
NONE of her albums stick to their main ideas for their entire durations. That point has to be thrown out of the window.
+ I don't understand why the songs' being released singles or album tracks is a factor. "That's the Way Love Goes" still demolishes all of Control. I also don't consider "This Time" an easy skip either.
Yeah and the sociopolitical significance of RN1814's lyrics is a little overstated too. The grand majority of the social issues addressed are just crammed into "State of the World" and "The Knowledge". Am I lying?

Nope. LWNDWY is about interracial relationships. And Black cat is about drugs.

Together Again is about death. And it is a happy song. That's twisted in a good way. It also has the dark remix.
Got 'Til It's Gone has that heavy, soulful atmosphere to it. It fits well within the album.
Go Deep, I could make a point that she was depressed during the production of the album and that in the middle of the album is somehow twisted.
And, still, there are more songs on RN NOT about societal issues than songs about societal issues.
That being said, Escapade and Alright >>>>>>> all.
Considering that I lived during RN and it's undeniable impact, it was a time and place that defined that era. Of course it hasn't aged well, but it's arguably Janet's best era. I was 11 when the album was released and I remember vividly the slayage that occurred.
When TVR was released, I was a teenager. I looked at things very differently..and the album didn't connect to with me until some months after it's release. TVR has aged better than RN and it's considered Janet's "masterpiece"..and as some say that it's "overrated", but not in the fan community where it's a favorite.
I go back and forth on which album is the best. Since I lived thru both eras, RN easily was the commercial of the two. TVR was different and it let me know that Janet is not a one trick pony and she easily leaves her contemporaries right behind her.
And keep it cute on "Control"..it's a very important album with her best track "When I Think Of You" (Goddess).
"Tonight's the Night" is my favorite song on TVR and I don't know why I everyone hates it. I love the opening and closing tracks too.
I love that song. When she says at the ending "Please don't leave..I don't want to be left all alone"..and it segues into IGL.
Not only did Janet sound convincing singing to another woman, but she sounded comfortable not giving a **** about what others would think about it. And she didn't receive writing credits although she added "boy" towards the end of the song.
She sang about threesomes, domestic abuse, INTERNET LOVE (janet ha vision being catfished before it was even a thing), homosexuality, depression and related psychological themes, death, S&M, racial issues. And it's not just the lyrics, the sound is penetrating. I mean... No album on earth got **** on The Velvet Rope.

All For You is still my favorite Janet album of all time.
Is it really? I feel like All For You (and janet. as well) both drag at times. I mean The Velvet Rope is just as long, but it never gets slow for more than one song at a time.
All For You is still my favorite Janet album of all time.
It's underrated. Feels so right is filler, and Would You Mind is gross, but the rest is really, really good. Also, Truth is one of her best songs ever.

The only reason why you say Control feels thin is because it has less tracks than janet.. Control punches start to finish, as I pointed out. The only low points are "You Can Be Iconic", but it picks up with two great tracks - WITOY and TPP, then takes a slight dip with "He Doesn't Know I'm A Goddess", then finishes out with "Let's Perch Awhile", and "Funny How Time Flies (When You're On Mount Olympus)". Janet punches TTWLG - If, picks up with Throb then fizzles New Agenda - Because Of Love. Again and WAYN save the latter half of the album, then "The Song Nobody Knows", and ATAP is left to save the album because nobody knows about "Whoops Now" being there.
janet. is just eclectic sonically and lyrically, but overall Control punches start to finish with only two minor gaps of greatness. And you might need to seek psychiatric evaluation if you think TTWLG is seeing FHTF, Nasty, or TPP on any day of the week.
