Oh my that 2009 compilation reminds me how cool Gaga used to be. And now she delivers B-list music accompanied with super long videos made by photographers in which she looks ugly and don't make sense.

It's not his fault that **** hit the fan in late 2010. Katy stopped making tolerable music, most of the people in the 2009 video were irrelevant, and Ke$ha was found fully formed by a runaway jizz stain which landed in the garbage.
Popular music is a lot better now than it was in 2009-2011, those years were a bit of a mess with the overload of generic dance music, let's not. There is a lot more variety now, with alternative, pure dance songs (Summertime Sadness remix, Clarity, Wake Me Up, etc), midtempo pop songs, stripped down ballads, indie folk, etc. Not everything is "boring stripped down", and two years ago with the dance trend it got to a point where all the productions WERE boring, everything sounded the same.
Looking at the Top 20 songs on itunes WW, "Wake Me Up", "Hey Brother", "Story of My Life", "Do What U Want", "Under Control", "Hold On We're Going Home", "Let Her Go" all either have impressive production or melodies. I'd say "Roar" and "Wrecking Ball" are also expertly made pop songs.
Let's not act like Rihanna is all so mighty, remember she gave us the nightmare called Right Now which was a huge bomb and the worst video of the year What Now. She is kinda flopping so don't be surprised if her era also underperforms
