I totally realize that. I could always tell the meaning behind many Japanese songs w/o reading translations, and actually a bit deeper than just "sorrowful", "joyful" etc, like actually whether the artist is expressing disappointment, missing someone, the feeling of nostalgia, etc. Which was impressive in so many ways to me. But still....there's something missing. Unless we're discussing Utada ofc.
