Most pop stations begin year-end countdowns around 1-2 weeks before New Years, so this will affect songs (negatively) that are currently gaining on radio and affect those (positively) that were hits throughout 2013. We call it "freeze" because most current songs will either stay stable or lose audience impressions during this time. Once the freeze is over, songs will suddenly rebound to where they were before the freeze started.
AC stations have begun (or will begin) flipping to Christmas-themed songs, so current songs will lost a lot of AI until December 26. Expect the top ten on AC to be filled with Christmas songs.
