There is no real story. They all act like friends when they are on stage.

It is pretty apparent who is friends with who when you see candids though. Who shows up to recording sessions together, who vacations together, who writes songs together, who is chatting when they don't see the camera's, etc.

I think that, from just what I've seen over my short time as a big fan so far, there's perhaps one member of the group that doesn't get along with the others and the other four are pretty close. I'd blame the media and the atmosphere about the group for any tensions between them; I'm sure it's very difficult to be entirely happy when your every breathe is scrutinized for meaning or significance and you are nearly defined by your ties to four other people.

Remember the vicious Niall stan that slipped through the cracks onto this site once.
He didn't even like 1D, he was just a super stan for Niall and tried to attack us in base for a night. He didn't last long but it was so funny, it was like a bad movie where Jack! met his evil clone or something.

cos harry is close to niall & zayn
i dont think he has much to do with louis anymore sadly
& i dont think him & liam have much to do with each other outside of 1D
but narry & zarry are close

Who do you see as friends? For me it seems like Louis, Zayn and Liam are the closest. We barely ever see zayn out but when we do it's with Louis mostly if not Louis then Liam. Plus Zayn always says either Louis or Liam are his favorite. Louis and Liam seem super close for the past year public candids during tour on days off are often about them. Plus they share interests outside of 1D (surfing). Ziam speaks for themselves. Zayn only interacts with louis on twitter.

Harry, but what I should have said was AS close; he's still friends with them of course (with the possible sad exception of Louis thanks to the awful media and some overzealous fans), but he seems a little more disjointed from the group in an overall sense. Not that that's bad or anything, that's just how it seems to a newbie in the fanbase!

I don't see how the possible rift between Harry & Louis could be Harry's fault. He seems like the one person who can literally get along with everyone. I feel like I would get so annoyed by Niall after a while, Zayn is too much of a drug addict for me to associate with, Liam is cute but pretty boring (), and Louis is just kind of there.
