R&B superstar and three time Grammy winner Ne-Yo is currently working on his sixth studio album.
“At this stage it’s exciting to throw down new ideas and see what works for me and what doesn’t,” he said. “I feel like I can do any genre of music if I put my mind to it.”
“As of right now my focus is R&B because I haven’t really given my R&B fans the attention they deserve for a minute,” he said. “I gotta do at least a couple dance tracks cause that’s a fanbase that’s been really loyal to me, but I have to figure out what the next evolution of that is going to be.”
At this stage in his career Ne-Yo understands how lucky he is to still be making music.
“I’m excited to have six albums. We live in a time where if you get past two, you did something right,” he said.
Ne-Yo got his big break as a songwriter, so that gives him a more humble approach to fame and stardom.
“In that I was a songwriter first, the music is the most important thing to me,” he said. “Not imaging, not marketing and promotion, not smoke and mirrors, not even being a star. I’ve never really cared about that stuff.”

R.E.D was an improvement and gave him US success with LMLY - which he hadn't had in a while.
