It's teaching me things about Mariah I never knew.

It was actually Beyoncé's idea for Mariah Carey to have her music playing during the birth of her babies.

Had no idea.

Walter Afanasieff says the instrumentation of Mariah's #WheneverYouCall remained unfinished, even after its release on the #Butterfly album.

One of Mariah's best songs ever and it wasn't even completed.

Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men wrote 'One Sweet Day' in only 3 hours.

And it became an absolute classic and slayed that much.

Mariah Carey's favorite song from her 'Emotions' album is 'And You Don't Remember'.

I wouldn't have thought this would be Mariah's fave. It slays though.

Mariah Carey originally recorded 'Heartbreaker' for the 'Glitter' soundtrack.

WHAT?!??!?! You mean that classic almost ended up on THAT album??!

I know that Lead the Way was written during the Butterfly era, I wonder how different her albums could have turned out if she was writing songs in different eras to the ones they ended up in....

I only discovered recently that after Butterfly, Mariah started working on All That Glitters (which turned into Glitter) and it was only the movie (and soundtrack) being postponed until 2001 that led to her making Rainbow quickly in 3 months in 1999 (and Rainbow is full of songs that were meant for Glitter).

To think that Rainbow could have never existed and Glitter would have been the follow-up to Butterfly, gosh.

But then again, if Glitter was actually released in 1999 as planned, it might have been received differently, meaning Mariah might not have had a breakdown, and she wouldn't have made Charmbracelet. But then we wouldn't have TEOM and E=MC² - and well, anything that came after 2001.

Oh gosh, it could have been so different.

TAOLG isn't holding up that well. Good song but poor single choice. Mariah also waited too long to release new music after the hype surrounding her with #Beautiful.

I guess it'll remain with it's #119 peak on Hot 100.

I don't think she cared about a hit though, I'd seriously like to believe she didn't release this and think it would become a hit...

Yeah, Rainbow was originally supposed to be Glitter. But the movie went into developmental hell in 1999 so she decided to make Rainbow a normal album instead.
