I started stanning because of this and not Poker Face (which is nice and I get why it smashed but it would never be in my top 5, maybe not even top10).

Yay, I though it's just me. "Just Dance" is like one of my favorite songs of all time, "Poker Face" is still top 20 though.

I dispute "Boys Boys Boys", "Summerboy", "Swine" and "Donatella". The rest actually are trash.

"Donatella" is moving down the list though, it might be out soon.

"Bad Kids" is terrible. "Donatella" is life. You'll come around eventually.

I TOLD y'all the stanning for success was real, just like there were suddenly 4958749574 "Dope" stans when it started to chart because of pre-order sales.

Nope, no "Poker Face", because it's far from her best song.

True. "The Edge of Glory" is nothing special; it's bland, unimportant. It's so overrated.

Wait, not 4 people in a row saying they are not big fans of Poker Face.
If only S-O-M-E would see this.

All this hate for her fashion smashes!
I wish she'd release them on a seperate EP called Fashion Of Ha Love in order to promote Versace SS2014.
1. Donatella
2. Fashion (Gianni's 2014 Edit)
3. Black Jesus + Amen Fashion
4. Fashion Of Ha Love (Remix)
5. Scheiße (Italian Merda Remix)
6. Fashion!

ARTPOP is my favorite Gaga album and has brought me back to loving her. I hate that so many people are turning from her just because she flopped.

That's great you love the album so much
And the turning away is not surprising, this is the real test.
Just enjoy the album for you

I love ARTPOP so much but all Gaga's talk about art and against the mainstream and ****, just, why?
I get she sees things differently cause she worked on it from beginning to end, but even then she can't listen to this album and say 'yes, the message and art of this album is truly groundbreaking', right?
It's a catchy pop album mainly revolving around media and sex, and no one expects anything more from her.

Just Dance and SHICD are some of her best songs.
Especially Just Dance, it's still not tired or stale, after all those years.
I've never been into PF, but that's just personal preference I guess.

You may say that about the album. But she sees ARTPOP as a project. She never said she'd bring ART into the music. Gaga was never just about the songs, but also about the performances, videos, pictures, the full package.
She put ART into the cover, she just did an ARTphoshoot that is at the Louvre. Applause video is not pure pop, but has artistic elements. etc etc.
That's her idea of putting ART + POP together.
And it is no surprise that she is "failing" at it cause the people are into plastic as she says at the moment. No shade to Katy but loook at Unconditionally. People (me too) love the video, but why? Cause it's shot nice and has nice images = quick plastic fun. It's nothing artistic or complicated. And Gaga is probably trying to go against that.
I guess she knew it would be hard and she may end this campaing in a year and call it a flop. But I guess she is obsessed with this idea right now and Interscope let her do it so yeah that's it.

15 Lady Gaga - Applause 0.2085
17 Katy Perry - Unconditionally 0.2015
18 Lady Gaga - Do What U Want (feat. R. Kelly) 0.2010
lol
Not when DWUW was practically selling as the #10 song. Not Applause rising from the grave again
AMAs and the VIDEO need to hurry, specially the latter. The song's only shot.

Back from banland.
Getting banned 2 weeks before the album was released was just...
Well at least I got to witness all the ****ery that took place and all the fickle, PATHETIC ******s jumping ship because their fave is under-performing.
A handful of the members in this base are amazing but most of them are the PITS, embarrassing and disgusting human beings.
Oh and if you're jumping ship, PLEASE stop with the " I'm not leaving her because of the sales, she just lost the magic she had" ********. Everyone knows it is because of the sales. NO ONE is buying it because none of us are 10 year old kids here.
I, personally, LOVE the album. I use every track on the album. DWYW, Gypsy, Sex dreams are some the best songs of her carrier.
Her performances are not as amazing as the used to be ( except iTunes fest. & SNL ) but she is still recovering from the surgery so.....

Yeah, she just needs to let it all out I guess, but if that's the case she should get full creative control from the label imo.
This half/half thing doesn't really work, it's putting down Gaga's creativety and the labels commercial success.
And you are probably right about the plastic thing, but at some point I thing she's got to understand that that's just a part of pop culture.
You can make art, but if no one is willing to buy it how will it make an impact?

This got lost due to the maintenance work yesterday. But I really would like to discuss it constructively without anyone coming for me because I'm speaking my mind. I have been doing nothing but listenting to ARTPOP and The Art Of Letting Go for two weeks now and I love the album. I really, really do but I still have to kind of agree to what *****haus said. I would not consider it boring at all but to me there are two problems with this album.
1. As cohesive the themes and lyrics are and as well as one song kinda blends into next one – the album lacks an overall feeling. Taken for itself, each song is pure pop perfection (except for Mary Jane Holland which is kind of dull to me but that's my personal opinion and taste, so let's not debate on favorite tracks again) but all together as an album the songs fail to convey a sentiment of ARTPOP as an entirety. Unlike all of its predecessors: The Fame has its own feeling, the The Fame Monster does, and Born This Way does, too. I am sure many of you can relate to that and could describe how the entire album bestows a special feeling on you and what does it feel like to listen to these albums. But with ARTPOP I am unable to that. I don't feel the album.
2. To me, there is nothing much innovative about the album. With The Fame she resurrected dance/pop music and elevated the shallowness of mainstream music to the subject matter. And she even went further with her next albums. When I first heard The Fame Monster and Bad Romance in particular I was overwhelmed. Especially Bad Romance had something totally unheard. It was like she really did blast off to a new dimension of music. As catchy as all the songs were, all of her singles holded something daring – no matter if its Poker Face, Alejandro, Judas, or Yoü & I, they were different to what was on the radio. And with each single release I was surprised that even, let's say, convenient radio stations like the ones that my father listens to would actually play them. With ARTPOP, it's different. I think the reason why Applause became her biggest radio hit is because it's her most radio-friendly single ever. It's catchy as hell and an outstanding pop tune. So is the album, it's really well-produced, and it has its fresh moments but it's not on an innovative level as all the albums and the EP. I think Do What U Want is the perfect second single and one of the best, coolest songs she's ever done and I love the hot messes that are Fashion! and Donatella but yet they are simply not as overwhelming and iconic as Dance In The Dark or Paparazzi. They are not my favorites but I think they only really innovative songs on ARTPOP are Swine (with its outrage packed in a electro tune), Venus (with its kind of unfinished production), and especially Aura that melds Spanish (?) guitars, some Arabic character, and electro music, and mixes political and religious themes with almost sexy lyrics.
Just to clarify: I love Gaga and I've been stanning from the beginning. I went to every tour, I love every album, including ARTPOP. I love how proud she is of it, and I am really happy that she is so contented with the album and hew new artistic experiences. I am thankful for the new songs and Gypsy in particular which makes me feel alive each time I listen to it. And I'm aware that she is a human being not always able to outdo herself. And of course not every single song and every single performance can be like out of this world and push limits. But even as a stan, I feel like the album is missing some sentiment and innovation, and I believe that is (besides the gay and outcast thing) one reason why the GP is not worshipping her this era.
And now y'all come for me, I'm ready

|
the first point is very well made. she herself acknoweldged the album is supposed to encompass all different types of energies, so although that was her intention, i feel it takes away from the overall album impact on you after listening to it.
as for the second point, there are many songs that have nothing innovative like Donatella and MJH, no matter how much i love it. However, there are many songs that are innovative both compared to her previous discography and to whats on the radio right now. JnD, Sexxx Dreams, and DWUW venture far into territories that she had yet to touch before ARTPOP. Swine, Aura, and Venus are songs that are very different from anything on the radio atm. That leaves about half the album falling into the noninnovative category you described
