You are the first person I hear saying this. Generally people are mean as hell to Battle Studies and mostly bc he tried to go more pop with it, I think now people would give everything for John to drop his country phase and go back to that sound lol.
Although I really like some of the songs on that album like Assassin, Heartbreak Warfare, Half of My heart (bc you barely listen to Swift so it doesn't taint the song) and Perfectly Lonely; I don't think it's better than Continuum.
John is a superb excellent musician. Hopefully he will teach a little to Katy.
Time will tell whether Lorde is a fad or not. For now, we definitely know MIA will forever be underground.
You know damn well Gaga is crying into a pillow and wishing she had an album as acclaimed as Kala as we speak. You know she wishes just one of her sings would become an iconic GOAT smash like Paper Planes. Gaga wishes she was an underground artist pulling 70s 80s and 90s on Metacritic so badly.
I don't think Lorde will be a huge force in the long run, as much as I dig her music. But I think it will be more on her terms. Her type of music is very much of her time, and she is so "anti-music business" that I could see her just giving up, going to college and doing something else in the future.
Never heard of Kala. Anywayz, back to mainstream and artists that are known by the general public, I hope Timber will overtake The Monster on iTunes soon.

It was trashed by the critics because it was the album that followed John's most acclaimed work: Continuum, an overall messy phase ugh ugh....
Who Says was the weakest song in that album, he should have gone at least with Heartbreak Warfare idk...
I won't enter comparisons tbh, I like all those three artists and they are very different.
I remember TSwift stans saying she was a better writer than Jmayer, I mean when will she do something like this while playing guitar like he does:
