The whole concept of 2012 scared me to death. From like, early 2009 to late 2011 I was literally paranoid and counting down in my head how many months we all had left to live before the world ended out of nowhere last year.

The one with John Cusak? That one didn't scare me but had me on the edge of my seat!
I live on the Columbia River and like half an hour from the Pacific Ocean. Flooding doesn't scare me.
The only horror movie to really scare me was The Conjuring. NO SIR

This reminds me, I need to get back into The Sims. Unfortunately every time I play it after a long break I enter a stage of obsession that lasts for a good month and I spend hours at a time building and decorating houses.
I watched The Conjuring a couple of weeks ago but it didn't scare me as much as the Paranormal Activity series has. The first one still scares me to DEATH every time I watch it and I always think I hear noises in the house or something coming up the stairs in the middle of the night.

I watched the Conjuring in theaters with my mom and we were SCREAMING. My Mom use to always tell me stories about demons and how family members would be tormented by stuff , and all kinds of Peruvian witch craft when I was younger, so I am TERRIFIED of demons and what not
I remember when 2012 was supposed to happen I ended up playing Sonic, and raised Chao until I fell asleep. It was so uneventful.

Yeah that's what I meant; I write it up in the little reply box and just hit preview. I don't actually go back to an old post and write in it But yeah, twice today I've lost my work though due to leaving it open too long and from accidentally unplugging my MacBook since it's running off the charger only. Ugh.

The Sims...
There was one summer where I was completely obsessed with that game. Like... you guys don't even know. I played it so much to the point where my Sims were literally the Bill Gates of the Sim world. Then the computer that I had it installed on broke

I play The Sims like twice a year but when I do, it's like crack. I'll play for like 5 hours straight each day for a week and then just abandon it. I only really like the building and decorating part. The actual playing part isn't as fun unless you have extensions with challenges and stuff.
Rollercoaster and Mall Tycoon are just as bad,
PA never scared me but I think it's because there weren't as many jump scares. Seems like The Conjuring was nonstop surprises. That ending was bull **** though.

fff. My mom was raised in a strict, god-fearing Catholic family in the 60s. She swears that when she was a kid they moved into a home that had a secret room which her dad found bleeding from the walls one night. They spent the next month in a hotel before they moved to a new home. She told this story way before the movie, but it makes the movie even scarier to her

The competitiveness adds to the funds collected and it would be great for us all to unite for something positive that isn’t first week sales or Britney Spears finally bending her extremities. Hopefully, no one is stupid enough to sabotage the competition with bogus Photoshopped receipts. Perhaps, for once the trolls can stay out and it will just be a serious thread. The graphics are simple and effective. Doing this annually would be amazing.

Practicality: 7. Sadly, I just don't see it really getting much grounding. I can imagine it in The Lounge but if it wasn't for the offer of Plus then I don't think many would participate. That saddens me but people are more into dragging and shading than helping.
Personal taste: 10. Y'all know I'm a bit of a socialist so these kinds of activities make me very happy to see! You took a holiday that most people would probably skip past and you forced ATRL to take part. I can tell you really did your research on this one and that's so nice to see. It makes me wonder if you get actively involved in it in real life. I hope so.
OP/Design/Details: 10. I personally LOVE what you did with this thread. A lot of people scan past the OPs and I'm no less guilty than the rest. This one, not so much. I read each one. You had each section of the thread clearly marked off so it didn't seem like too much. The colours worked perfectly together. I can't really explain it. A very pretty OP!

I know this is horrible to say but it's not really an event that would draw ATRL in and I see interest in this quickly dying down MDNA style.

Scene - This is SUCH a cute concept, Not only would it make a fun event, but it's helping people in need. However, a thought did come to mind; people could easily cheat by coming up with fake scores in their submitted screenshots just to win one of the three ATRL+ Memberships. Other than that, I have no complaints.
Avery - Pros:
This is really an original idea. Big events on ATRL are centered around music awards and stan awards, but this is totally different. I love how this would actually make an impact outside of ATRL. It's a good thing that you added the facts so these basic heaxues understand how crucial something like this is. The extra incentive of receiving an ATRL+ subscription is interesting.
Cons:
Would a majority of ATRL really want to do this. Be honest with yourself. While this is an original concept, I feel as though you would have to bribe people (in this case being the ATRL+ subscription) in order to participate. Also, this isn't something that seems like a big event. Yes, you're holding a competition where the highest 3 scorers will receive an ATRL+ subscription, but where else does it go from there? And girl, 3 subscriptions of ATRL+. Gyal how many coins do you have lying around like that? But I guess it's for a good cause, so I regress. And something really big is the possibility of cheating. These sistrens are really good with Photoshop. With you handing out subscriptions of ATRL+ like that, you know people are bound to attempt to cheat.

It’s for a great cause and for an organization Christina Aguilera is close to. My concern is, even though the three highest grain orders will receive ATRL+, it’s not something that most would want to do and keep doing. At least it’s for a day though, so that’ll help with that. Also, why three winners? Why don’t you save $40 and buy yourself something nice?

Many elements of the forum are included. It has the possibility of becoming dead like many games or rates do, but the ATRL+ reward is a great motivator. It’d play it. The graphics, plan, and example really add how genuine you are about this event.

Practicality: 6. As much as I love it, I just don't see it working on ATRL. For starters, bitches be cheating here. They're gonna Google. 10 minutes is a long time online. Also, it doesn't account for other time zones and people who cannot be here at 4 on the dot. I've played trivia games on other forums before and they offer them at least 4 times a day and usually host in chat rooms where people can be watched. Those judges tho...
Personal taste: 10. I love quizzes. No, I seriously love quizzes. Quizzes were my favourite part of being a student. As a teacher, I would refer to quizzes as "fun fact sheets" where students would answer quiz questions. My favourite non-ATRL site is Sporcle. I legit love quizzes.
OP/Design/Details: 8. Yeah, I can't read most of your OP. That font is just too small, too light, too tight, too a bunch of other stuff. I like the way it's all laid out but it's not very functional.
PS: (c). Britney Spears was born in 1981.

Scene - When I first skimmed over this I was slayed, but when I went back to read all the entries in depth, I was underwhelmed. This definitely has the potential to be a great event, but one thing worries me; a three week long event? Even with an ATRL+ subscription on the line, I can't imagine many people would be interested enough to keep playing for three weeks straight.
Avery - Pros:
The layout/formatting slays, as usual. A marathon is new, meh like. I like how the event will have people glued to their screens, perched for the questions to be posted. This will draw in the numbers. I also like how anyone can join at anytime, being that the event takes place for 3 weeks. I can see all, if not, a majority of ATRL participating in this. The marathon number is very cool. That's actually my favorite thing about this event. You won't know who everyone is until the end of the event. That is a nice setup for a huge finale.
Cons:
I have mixed feelings. Half of me says this is really a big event that has the possibility of taking ATRL by storm, the other half of me says this is just an extravagant game/tournament. My main concern is people cheating. Now sis, you say that you will impose a 10 minute timeframe to prevent cheating. Gyal, do not underestimate the typing skills of ATRL sistrens. The questions better not be as basic as the example you provided. 3 questions in 10 minutes; 3 questions does not seem like enough. It is very easy to do a quick Google search, especially if the questions will be multiple choice. Also, people would just steal other competitors answers. Especially if the questions have to be answered within 10 minutes, people can just perch and wait knowing that people are going to be rushing to submit their answers.
Connor - I loved your entry, and I think that it would honestly be more successful than Avery's idea. However, nothing about the Quiz Bowl seems like an event. It feels more like a game that could take place at any random time in the Games section, not like something that members look forward to or will become particularly interested in. I, myself, would play, but I'm not sure if it would draw attention from the site as a whole. On the plus side, though, your formatting was fantastic as always and it seemed like you put a lot of hard work into the entry. I'm always a sucker for trivia, too, so I think it looks fun.

Most of the people will get tired and forget about it for the most part even if ATRL+ is a part of the prize. But since it’s about the music, I think it would be fun and ATRL would really enjoy it. Google is fairly fast nowadays so 10 minutes may seem like an hour for them, especially with 3 questions.

Having a thread is nice, but hosting the party in Tinychat may be your best bet. I see the thread being deserted within 20 minutes due to boredom. The prom king and queen idea is cool, I’d love to see who runs for court and wins. The week of the event would be like a ball with all the beautiful avatars/signatures/blogs. Adding a poll beforehand would be great on deciding the theme would help everyone chose what pictures to find for attire. An after party with BEST/WORST dressed list would be pretty cool to add as well. I like this event, but a lot could be added to enhance the experience.

Anyway, back to the lackluster thread. I feel like out of all the challenges, this would be the one to where formatting would be an important aspect to critique. Because not only is it a pseudo-thread, but it's an event as well!

Consider the ATRL awards and other annual events. Making fun of other members and our faves is our best stress relief.
Practicality: 10. The thread pretty much runs itself since members take over their promotion. All you have to do is host the event itself and keep the OP updated. Good work!
Personal taste: 10. Matty and I are king and queen. That's already decided. We're prepared to buy our awards. Once Matty and I are crowned royalty, the rest of the thread would still be a blast. I wonder if you have other events planned, like the music and posts with "food" and other stuff for the night. It reminds me of Matty's and my wedding, 3 years ago
OP/Design/Details: 8. I really, really like that you chose to not do a special OP for this thread. They're nice to look at but sometimes I just want to know the details of a thread. Personally, I wish you had expanded it a bit. You should have done the entire prom court so more people could get involved. I also would have taken it a step further and gone for more high school superlative because there's a lot of freedom in there to get funny and shady.

Like talking about the 5 judges but not telling who they are. In addition to that your entry seemed quite lackluster compared to the rest.
Avery - Pro: This is really original and I'm surprised this hasn't been done before. I like how you would be able to utilize features of ATRL, being your signature and avatar. Just like DOMINO, I can see a majority of ATRL participating. I really like it...that's all that comes to mind
Cons:
The OP seems a little bit dry. If you're going to throw something extravagant like a prom, the OP should match that. You shouldn't give out subscriptions to ATRL+. The difference between this and the other entries is an ATRL+ subscription doesn't really fit with this. The prize should just be bragging rights. Also, the pairs shouldn't be randomized. It's not fun to sign-up with your ATRL hubby to just get re-assigned to a basic bitch. That would be like Matty and Katie having different partners. That would be like MLD and Mr. Link being put together. I mean, it's good for the ratings, but not generally speaking. Another thing is, you wouldn't be doing much. The more times I read it, the more I ask myself "is that all we would be doing?" You know what I mean Scene? Changing my avatar...okay people do that all the time. Changing my signature...okay what else... Promotion in blogs...oh boy that is going to be a MESS. Just think about what the prom court would say about their opponents, especially since the promo would be in the blogs
Connor - Although the idea of an ATRL Prom works, I don't think you executed it very well. There should've been more aspects to the Prom than just the King and Queen. You could've talked about music, games, or anything else, but you stuck to one track. I think you're a lot better than this entry, however, but unfortunately, the execution didn't really work for me.

Plus, half of the words would be censored. It has potential to be fun, but the cons out weigh the pros by more than double. This event actually makes me realize how lame ATRL’s rules and populous really are since the website crashed then Fisher Price and the Westboro Baptist Church started funding Joe and the server. You should have done your research. This last one flopped and with the new rules, server issues, abundance of trolls, and lack of innovative drags, this event would flop, again.

Initially, I tried to approach this as, like DOMINO or whoever said, The Mod Roast: The Re-Up. But once I finished reading it, I couldn't take it anymore. Just so many things. The fact that this was entirely done before (AND NOT EVEN JUST A ROAST, A MOD ROAST TOO, LIKE EVEN THE SPECIFICS), The actual thorough directions to the goddamn Barclay's Center, The M4M Craigslist hotel accommodations link, and the fact that even if this were never done before, it wouldn't ever see the light of day given ATRL's policies. Like you just couldn't win. I even tried to find the silver lining by thinking that we could use Foxay's thread as something to compare it to but every good I found was cockblocked by another negative. I suppose the best thing from this is that you were the only one who didn't feel the need to include an ATRL+ incentive, unlike your peers.

Edition One was a hit but most of it was fake in-fighting among Teh Clique. If you revamped it a lot, then it could take off.
Practicality: 10. Well, we already know the users will be here for it. Something tells me the mods will get dragged a bit more this time since so much has changed and a LOT of these 2013 accounts are feeling themselves. You know what. I wouldn't mind roasting most of them. Bring on the thread.
Personal taste: 8. I don't know. NHB type stuff bugs me because it's either fake and forced, or it's real and...sad. As long as it's kept more light-hearted and fun then I'd be happy. It's not the most original entry but I won't fault ya.
OP/Design/Details: 7. I straight up DIED when you included directions to the arena. I don't know why I found that so hilarious but I just did. The rest is kind of basic but that's okay.

Scene - The LENGTH of this entry tho! I think this is as long as my and Retro's quick guide entries put together. That's not to say all the detail you put into the entry is bad, but it's just... unnecessary. Also, I know it said the jokes will be screened, but this really has the potential to turn into NHB 2.0, especially with mods being the ones roasted. An insensitive joke could slip through the cracks, and the thread could get messy FAST. And to hear that this has been done before is kind of disappointing. I can't hate on you too much tho because I didn't know about the roast either.
Connor - I don't particularly care that this has been done already, tbh. It was done so long ago that most members wouldn't even remember. I think that your personality would really work with this event, and someone shady and funny like yourself would be a perfect host. My only critique is that there might be too many restrictions and rules for people to really want to get involved. If it's gonna be a roast, let it be a full-out, dirty roast.

Cycle 8 Winner |
Earlier this evening you all met with the judges and we evaluated your entries...

Your entry this week made us realize there are other things for ATRL to focus on a band together other than shading and praising faves. It was a great idea and it's not a shock why you are placed here.
Congratulations, you are still in the running to becoming ATRL's Next Top Member!

You're out of the bottom! We saw Domino come back with this challenge. It's something fun, but if it were to ever start some things may need to be revised. Take a look at the judges comments, a lot of them had some great pointers in making the idea better.
Congratulations, you are still in the running to becoming ATRL's Next Top Member!
Will Avery and Scene please step forward.
I only have one name typed out in the Gold font below and that person will be moving on to becoming ATRL's Next Top Member.
Avery --- You know why you are where you are right now. Your entry was something that has already been done. You said you checked, but you didn't check far back enough. If only you had, maybe you could have sent a revised event that would have pleased the judges. You're new though, so you didn't really know that it had already been done. With that said, you have such a GREAT energy about you and all of us judges see A LOT of potential in you. You have also been improving week after week after week, which when the numbers of individuals go down can be hard to do. Do we let this slip slide by and let you move forward or do you need more time?
Scene --- It was such a cute idea for an event, but there just seemed to be a lot missing. It hadn't been on par with your other entries and we have six top two entries to judge this one on. When comparing you to Avery, you haven't improved, you've stayed consistently at the top. You did have a bottom two appearance earlier on in this game, but quickly recovered and never fell down... until now. Also, this is your second time in the competition, but you've done so much better than your past cycle. So, should you move forward?
So who stays?

Your run in this competition is too strong to ignore and for you to be sent home over. I don't even need to rant on that you need to improve, cause you know you can do better and have done better.

I literally revised this in my mind a million times. I originally was going to keep you around for another round, because I see SO MUCH potential, and have a double elimination next round. However, looking at the future of the competition, this seemed like the best option for you. Hear me out. If I had moved you on and there were to be no elimination, you would not have the chance to participate in another cycle of ANTM for you'd technically be grandfathered in the top 3. If I had moved you on and you were to get eliminated next time or possibly not win, you'd have to wait until All-Stars to participate again. For the future of ANTM, I do not know whether Cycle 11 is next or All-Stars is next. By me eliminating you now will allow you to sign up again for Cycle 11 as well as All-Stars, whichever may be next. It's a win-win situation for you right despite you losing right now. You have a lot of top member potential and for a new member, getting this far is amazing! However, you are new. Take this time to grow and experience ATRL more, continue to find yourself, then come back for vengeance! I'm proud of you!
Keep an eye out for Matty Mail!!!

NOOOOOO AVERY
You brought so much life into this thread and I can honestly say that you are one of my favorite members on this site. You're hilarious, kind, and an all-around amazing guy. I was truly hoping that you would be in the final three with me, but at least you'll be able to play again next season! Your entries consistently slayed me and in my eyes, you are a top member. Don't be a stranger to the thread.
And thank you judges for your kind words and for putting me back on top
It feels amazing to have climbed consistently week after week after my stint in the bottom two.

Thank you for keeping me, judges. I really struggled this week, and it showed. However, I'm not going to give up. I'm going to turn it out and fight for the crown.
Avery, I'm sad to see you go. You brought such an amazing personality to this competition that won't be forgotten. I really do hope you take Matty's advice and come back for another cycle, because you can really come back and win.
