Her age and looks are only relevant to pop radio, the singles chart and MTV. She didn't build the career she's had on looking like a Barbie.
She still has a large, older fanbase to sell albums to - but she didn't utilise it with MDNA, instead focusing on youth.
She has not lost her talent nor her ability to make good records, and I have a feeling because of the political statements she's been making since last year that she'll be moving in a different direction. Don't be surprised if she brings back Orbit (again), Mirwais or Patrick Leonard.
Madonna knows how to sell her stuff. The biggest backhanded compliment she's gotten over the years is that she's a great businesswoman, if nothing else.
