Glad we agree that both numbers are disappointing! Gaga came off a massive era with lots of hits and sold 1.1mil (you can adjust for the Amazon deal accordingly). Katy came of a massive era and....well you know the rest.

you know why Katy's singles are huge? Its because a little owns her album. If she sold like 5 million albums in the US then I expect her singles will not be that huge. I mean who would buy a single if they already own the album?

TD was Katy's BIGGEST era so far, many #1 hits + Roar is still HUGE, of course its 270k sales are v dissapointing

I recall everybody saying this before ARTPOP was announced but all of her stans flat out denied it and were saying things about how BTW still slayed, how it sold 6 million WW, had a big tour and that after a little break, the public would miss her and ARTPOP would slay, etc, etc. So now everyone admits that the overexposure from BTW (and the continuous use of gimmicks and costumes with no real good music coming from any of it) pretty much killed her career?

I just find the excuses about all of this so funny. So now Applause is just a moderate hit too, despite the longevity of it being made into a big deal and how it did so well on radio, etc, etc.

You guys talked alot of **** about how this album would perform so don't be surprised when people call you out on it or make fun of it.

lol I don't think you really know how it works, but thanks for your input! Take a look at Adele and 21. Katy actually sold a lot of albums overall with TD era and her singles were still massive. The market for singles and albums aren't one in the same. It's a little more complex than you're making it out to be!
