Well, the way I read it, for Monday-Thursday, 6 major retailers representing about 85% of album sales in the U.S reported that Eminem's album has sold the biggest amount so far. Since Monday and even iTunes are included, I'm guessing Eminem has outsold all of Gaga's sales including the pre-orders. However, the remaining 15% of sales not reported is presumably what will give Gaga the edge. Billboard sounds like they're in denial though lol.

It's really weird to me how Eminem is selling less even though he's #1, #9, #76, and #274 on iTunes and Gaga is just #2 and #112. But I guess she had four months of pre-orders! Congrats anyway Gaga!

This is how I interpret it as well. Do they know something we don't? Looking at iTunes, Eminem is grossly outselling Gaga by a pretty big margin, has been for a couple days now.

that makes sense i guess, the preorder thing, but don't the midweek count preorders?

seems like gaga caught a miracle if what you guys are saying is true about the itunes positions. combine that with being ahead on the midweeks and him never dropping that large she picked up quite the unexpected W.

I think this must be it. Maybe the Amazon discount is pushing large numbers of Gaga's sales there, and these aren't included in the building chart.

iTunes is part of the the building chart so preorders are presumably counted.

What on earth is odd about it?

They threw up their building chart - which has been done tons of times before - and gave a prediction that Gaga would debut #1. It's pretty simple. It's also pretty common knowledge amongst those who have closely followed Billboard that the Building chart does not cover all retailers and that it's not always the same as the final chart.

I mean, outside that, nothing has been done for anyone to be confused by except some predictions being thrown around.

Hopefully her SNL appearance this weekend can motivate people to get out and buy the album in stores this Sunday or on iTunes... I'd hate for ARTPOP to be blocked when it is a much better album than Born This Way
