take me down to the river
underneath the blood orange sun
say my name like a scripture
keep my heart beating like a drum
LEGENDARY LOVERS (we could be)
LEGENDARY la la la la
The problem here isn't EDM as a genre. Actual good electronic songs like Martin Garrix's "Animals" are #1 in places like the UK right now. There are so many hidden gems and sounds in EDM and pop artists just can't seem to find them. And then some ruin productions with weird lyrics and voices and make it something unlistenable.
Swine, G.U.Y and Dope are the trinity of ARTPOP easily.
Mary Jane Holland and Trans Dreams are the only bad songs tbh.
G.U.Y is lyrically retarded and she sounds like a drunk, mumbling Irishman in Dope. She must've thought her awful vocals made it more 'personal' or w/e but it just ruins it.
The problem is that producing an EDM track and producing a pop song are two different things. Gaga's producers have produced EDM tracks (or copy/pasted old ones) and she sings over them. You don't create good pop songs that way.

This is also true. Usually you need to consider both vocals and productions when making a song, and make them work together. There are a few exceptions, like "I Could Be the One", but those vocals actually work with that song.
Also, the problem with Artpop is how she tries to sing over beats, sometimes the loudest parts of the song. If Rihanna sang over the beat drops in WFL and WHYB, they would both be awful.
Some of Artpop's tracks remind me of Supernatural. Overproduced with EDM breakdowns (Supernatural is better though)
Both have made the same mistake, but one stretches it to the whole album.
