I never said I hated it, I even praised the song, and I adore it, but I said from the beginning a ballad as a follow up, when she just flopped, would be a huge mistake. I've seen it happen tine and time again, people think a ballad will save things, when all it does sometimes is make things worse. Especially since out of all the ballads she released only one was a legitimate hit.
People like Britney for her classic pop, when she releases straight up pop music she is at an advantage. She should have released an up-tempo, and just cause it is an up-tempo it doesn't mean it would be generic or safe. I said this back when I was like "NO ****ING BALLADS", and then some tried to use P!nk as an example of why a second single ballad would work, ala Try, but they failed to realize P!nk started out her era with what the public knows best about her, same ole pop/rock snarling "I'm a rock star" ish with Blow Me. She had goodwill going into her second single.
Passenger would have been a perfect follow up, it has been her most instant single with her fans, and non fans, and had a great feel good message. All a recipe for success.
Two flop radio songs in a row, isn't going to look good to radio programmers. She has an uphill battle from here on out. And where a song is at on iTunes has nothing to do with it, WB was still hanging on, and it was dropped faster than Artpops HDD predictions.
