Is this why Rihanna has never been able to get close to the album sales or amount of successful singles since her 3rd album & 3rd year in her career? Britney going from 20 million albums sold to 300,000 something on top of being very hit or miss single-wise. I highly doubt Katy will ever be able to achieve another singles run like she did in TD, her 2nd album. Beyoncé also may never achieve album sales or a single run like IASF, her 3rd solo album.
Not to in anyway dismiss ARTPOP's awful opening week but to say all other pop artists are growing is a lie. Most had that imperial phase where they had one huge era that dominated and they could apparently do no wrong. Then they came crashing back down to earth hard and then recovered a bit from the loss but never back to that imperial phase. That is the nature of most big pop artists. Not to say Gaga will necessarily do the same.
