But impact and influence is much more than some statistic's though. Enrique Iglesias has outsold Bob Marley doesn't make him automatically more impactful. Since you didn't read the other thread the reason people consider Janet superior:
. Is because Control, RN & TVR are more acclaimed than each and every single Beyonce album. And has made the best of list's of all time outside RS
. Had bigger opening week sales than Beyonce has ever seen
. Janet elevated the platform for what we expect from particular female entertainer's in term's of choreography. Where do you think the expectation's for Brintey came from?? Where do you think when the breakdown in the beat occurs for a song we expect something spectacular in that department??
. Bridged the gap between r&b & rap
. Produced one of the first major albums to incorporate spoken word/poetic type of interludes that have been a huge prescence in contemporary r&b/hip hop albums
. Sparked the New Jack Swing movement one of the
defining musical genres and trends of that particular decade.
. Her female empowerment anthems have had a direct influence on Beyonce herself
etc.....
Contrary to many musically ignorant's popular belief Janet wasn't just some random chick. She is so impactful/influential second to Madonna in terms of that type of female entertainer. That even MJ himself took notes and moves form her throughout the years

Bey. Janet's "legacy" is forgotten. And the only people who think of Janet when they see Bey, Britney, Ciara etc., is stans. Nobody else cares about her "influence" on them.

So and as a child I didn't care for Diana Ross's influence yet she paved the way for every black female diva that crossed over in her wake. Who cares what others think about the influence/impact. It objectively is there and that's what matters most of all at the end of the day.
