It's a horror anthology. Each season stands on it's own, but has recurring actors.

Horror House - Dysfunctional families : Haunted House
Asylum - Evil/Mental Health : Serial Killer & Aliens
Coven - Feminism/Racism : Voodoo & Witchcraft
S4 - ??????


I see a lot of great ideas in this thread. I do not want there to be sequels for the previous Season.

Angela Bassett and Kathy Bates both want to do Season 4! I'm not really sure what theme/storyline would be tackled in the next season. Ryan Murphy's problem in AHS is that he has too many plot lines that do not always become resolved.

Season 4

Setting: Chinatown/urban area
Protagonist: Detectives
Antagonist: Ancient primordial evil a la H.P. Lovecraft

Detectives investigate human trafficking/disappearances of young children and beautiful people. The detectives employ a psychic and they discover ritual killings centered around certain spots in the underground subway system. The learn that city leaders are involved and have allowed the crimes to go on throughout the years. Soon they are being stalked by mysterious figures that remain barely out of eyesight and their dreams are being haunted. Not knowing who to trust, the detectives must decide to drop the case and try to forget everything they've encountered or plunge deeper into the conspiracy to satiate their curiosity.

Uh, I'd say Asylum was scarier than Coven so far. Coven seems pretty tame compared to it.

Also: American Horror Story doesn't need an apocalyptic or zombie theme, we have The Walking Dead for that.

Also, I think the final season should revisit all of the preceding seasons. Murder House and Asylum left somehow unanswered questions (especially Murder House) and I bet Coven will, too. The final season should close all of the unanswered questions, with a dark plot-twist involving all of them; American Horror Story: The Last Tier.

I think the witches have something to do with why the house is cursed tbh. And maybe it's the aliens that gave the witches their powers hihihi!

Hmmn... AHS pretty much covered the whole spectrum of the typical horror genre, be it on a main plot line or a side story.

I don't know... Maybe a mysterious Cult that tries for evil intention to summon the devil by sacrificing a select group of individuals that in hindsight are strangers but are connected some way in the past?

And each of the member of the group has an inner demon to battle: pedophile, a necrophiliac, an HIV positive person, a religious nut, a person with a 3rd eye.

Along the way is a Police Detective with multiple personality disorder trying to stop this elusive cult along the help with a medium who wants revenge because the Cult killed her son.

American Horror Story: Occult

I was actually thinking something like this, but more in the vein of The Hills Have Eyes. The main characters are family + friends and they go on a family trip to somewhere in the woods, long distant away from their hometown, and their car breaks down in an area with no connection, so they settle down in an area nearby a river, when something mysteriously starts killing them (Friday the 13th, too) and they start turning out on each other thinking one of them is a the murderer, revealing some of the characters past / present mental disorders. Eventually they meet with another group who reveal to them the real murderers; the Cannibals. They find their residence place and at an attempt to make contact with the world their enter it, but they get stuck. At the end, its reveal that one of the main characters is a Cannibal who lead them all to here, and its revealed as this character murders and eats the final living one.
