Born This Way (song) was a mega smash in Japan, one of the biggest western hits there that year, whereas Applause made little impact. DWUW won't be huge there either.
Manicure as a Japan single with a video please. It has that bratty poprock Avril sound that's huge there, and the lyrics are perfect for Japan. It's the only country where a song about a manicure could work
No, the promo for BTW was pretty epic and memorable It's like the anti ARTPOP. BTW was a global campaign, but after reading what Troy said I guess her team is more concerned about what happens after the 1st week this go 'round.
Oh and maybe Gaga can't do as much because of ha hip. To be honest this just isn't Gaga's year. I hope 2014 is a full recovery!! I love seeing her perform and can't wait to see her performing everywhere

If her promo in Japan is on point as last era, the album will sell well anyway. I hope she stays in Japan for a full week at least, Japan really needs to be milked

But wasn't Troy last era comparing album sales with blockbuster movies or something and saying that huge drops weren't that bad (if someone can find me that interview) ?
I mean let's be real, would you, if you were in charge of a label, rather have ultra frontloaded sales but end up selling 6-7 million copies WW or "longevity" but end up selling 4-5 million ? This whole "we want longevity this time" thing seems like an excuse to me, cause at the end of the day what the label wants is to get as much $$$ as possible.
This made her the undisputed biggest female solo artist to this day. Fashion! is kinda similar to that, it's perfect for Japan along with Manicure. And Japan alone is worth it to shoot videos for even if they won't be singles anywhere else
