This album is amazing. My favorites are Sexxx Dreams, G.U.Y, Donatella, ARTPOP, and DWUW. The only song I'm still iffy about is Dope, but even that is growing on me.
Next singles should be Gypsy -> G.U.Y -> SD (preferably in that order).
I kinda wish Dope was the second to last song on the album and not Gypsy. It would make Applause sound like an encore performance... PS: Dope really grew on me. I still like IWBWY a little bit more tho.
1. "Do What U Want" was the the obvious second single choice.
2. I'm glad "ARTPOP" doesn't spend too much time on ballads.
3. The verses in "Sexxx Dreams" are PERFECTION. The vocals; the delivery "And it felt so trashy." LOVE. Lady GaGa has a gift in singing her words with conviction.
4. Some songs are overproduced and oversung.
5. The chorus on "Aura" is perfection. Glad it hasn't changed from the leak. I hate her screaming voice during the verses though.
6. "Gypsy" is giving me "Highway Unicorn" teas -- you Monsters will pay it dust even though it's one of the best songs on the album. That bridge >>> - This is probably the song that will get the most replay from me, personally.
7. The dancebreak in "Swine" is:
8. Not seeing the hype for "G.U.Y." It's good, but not as immediate or catchy like some of the other songs.
9. "Jewels N' Drugs" is a bop. Some of Lady GaGa's best songs are urban-ish. The chorus is super M.I.A.-ish though. Also I wish that break in the song at 1:21 was accented with the electric guitars like her iTunes set, instead of just leaving it with the bare violins. Also, I think the song would have been fine with just T.I.
10. "MANiCure" is cool...ARTPOP could have been a lot better, I like the Kylie Minogue teas though.
11. Filler: "Fashion," "Donatella," "Venus" (How was this ever considered second single worthy? - The "Goddess, Goddess of LOOOOVE" part slays though).
Overall, much better than "Born This Way" -- but that wasn't such a tall order to overcome. The album is really LOUD though and I would have liked to see more experimentation with different genres (ala "Teeth") and more upbeat tracks that didn't stick in EDM territory. It's a great dance album though, reminds me of what Britney tried to do with "Femme Fatale" - only that album didn't have very much substance.
