But you're yet to answer my question: How ?
I still think no one is. Lady GaGa + Beyonce are the most powerful women in pop music today, no one is a competition to them.
But yes, to Katy Perry, Ke$ha, Miley and other radio pets, Rihanna def is tough competition.

Never thought I'd say this back when Gaga and Bey were slaying but Rihanna has eclipsed all of them. Only Adele is above her

Yeah Rihanna has completely eclipsed Lady Gaga (who is done as a top tier pop girl) since 2011 and she's not far from doing the same to Beyonce. If 5 is not a smashing success she will for sure eclipse her.

Pebbles gave them a **** deal. Most major artists get more than 7 percent of album sales. But yes, labels are cheap and that's why the money is in touring.

Tiny Mix Tapes will probably give Gaga another 0 (it counts for metacritic) I just found this article from last month

FYF Fest is the poster child for responsible use of corporate sponsorship, a concept which these days seems as possible to exist as pink elephants or a good Lady Gaga song.

they have sold pretty much the same amount of albums and Bey grosses (touring) is a little bit more but that is to be expected considering Bey has been in the Bus. for a long time and the fact Rih is almost caught up with her is a little scary. Singles is obviously Rih and acclaim Bey have a little more then Rih

Honey, Rihanna has sold more albums, singles and concert tickets than Beyoncé.

Beyonce has a great legacy but Rihanna has surpassed Beyonce in popularity and hit songs. Hits and popularity matter most of all as a popstar. Her tour gross is impressive (though she can't perform), and she has sold more albums than Beyonce and Gaga (though she has released 7). She also has the biggest singles sales, FB likes, and Vevo views. Not bad for a glorified singles artist.

Tiny Mix Tapes is a tough cookie to crack!

Arcade Fire - Reflektor
Or maybe Orpheus and Eurydice would be a more fitting analogy. There’s a beautiful poignancy to it, no? Two figures standing one in front of the other, close enough to touch yet separated across a silent barrier, unable to look at one another. It’s a beautiful image, one that plays out on both the album’s cover and on the latter disc’s paired parentheticals. And yet it’s a loose end that never really gets tied up. There are moments when the symbolism seems to offer the key to figuring it all out, as if the album was merely a postmodern adaptation of a classical form. But the moment you grab a hold of that thread and follow it, you find yourself back where you started — or perhaps on another thread altogether. If this all points back to Orpheus’ tragic loss — the moment he turns around and loses the woman he loves — why does “Awful Sound (Oh Eurydice)” sound like The Beatles by way of J Spaceman and “It’s Never Over (Oh Orpheus)” like New Order via Hercules and Love Affair? For all the beautiful symmetry between form and content, there are moments when the two simply slip away from each other like a tenuous semiotic system. And ultimately, that’s the perverse beauty of it all. No one image contains the meaning of the album, but each feeds into and helps define the system. Don’t turn around! Because the moment you look at it, the wave function collapses — the sum is reduced to a fragment. A mere projection of the complex whole.
And so I cast my five sputtering flashbulbs futilely into the broken darkness. They burn brightly for only a moment. But in that split-second, I could have sworn I saw something off in the distance, through the obfuscating glow of the liquid crystal displays, past the mirrors and the monitors. A smattering of dead pixels perhaps. A false refraction. But if I didn’t know any better, I’d say it looked just like snow. Falling in a familiar place. And then everything cuts to black.
100/100

I could actually hear her slaying Umbrella, especially the hook. I wonder how it would have fared if it were the first single from "Blackout".

I think Mary J Blige would've slayed Umbrella, tbh.

OMG you will not. Her dancing in that video was the closest they've come to fully realizing one of their songs emotionally (save maybe Reflektor).

The industry is singles-driven now more than ever. Besides, Beyonce is not a super strong album seller either.
And yes, you missed this.
