I tend to call things too soon, but right now, #ARTPOP is my favorite mainstream pop record of 2013 — until Britney Jean arrives, obviously.

Tango in the Night is far from their best material, but it has better album tracks than Rumours. The only songs on Rumours that I like are Dreams, Songbird, Oh Daddy, and The Chain. The rest is trash
But for the most part [ARTPOP] it’s spectacularly unsuccessful. Donatella has the most cringe-worthy lyrics that don’t even bear repetition, G.U.Y and Aura are a right old racket, Fashion! will reignite a Vogue-related ‘reductive’ debate, and Jewels & Drugs is singularly the most embarrassing take on chart hip-hop. Never mind tearing down Miley, it’s Gaga who should be slated for misappropriating black culture.
I'm listening to BTW for the first time in full so I can compare it to ARTPOP when I BUY it next week. There's no way artpop can be worse than BTW. It just seems like Gaga is better live than in the studio. I thought that was a good quality to have.
