So I tried to make my own reviw of PRISM, hope you enjoy that.
(I'm Italian and I'm sorry if I spell some words wrong or if I don't have such a vary vocabulary).
I've been waiting for this album for a long time, even if the TD era was so long that I've never missed Katy that much. Anyway, I couldn't wait for this record to come to my hands, I was soo curious to see what Katy could give us after that pop masterpiece that is TD.
I have to say that when there were rumors that the new album would have been “Dark” i wasn't happy at all: I mean, I've always loved Katy because she is such a fresh, inspiring person that have always made me feel better with her song. So I was like “no, if I want a dark album I would listen to some Lana Del Ray or other “i wanna die” artist”. Fortunately, Katy let the light in. And she made the light get inside me too.
1-
Roar: I've loved this song from the first time I've listened to it. Admit that, not an original or sperimental song at all, but so fresh and catchy, with such a inspiring text that encourage us to never back down and to find the strenght in ourselves.
9/10
2-
Legendary lovers: I have to say I wasn't too convinced when I first heard the song, and I could'n understand why everyone whas so enthusiastic with it. Anyway it has grown on me, the chorus slays and I love the “indian” mood it has.
7.5/10
3-
Birthday: this is the Katy I adore. I mean, this song screams “I'm a smash” from a kilometre away. So catchy, fun. I'm kinda sure it will be a single, and I hpe in the video Katy shows us the big balloons (If you know what I mean )

-Walking on air: one of the promotional singles, such a great song vith that 90ies vibe that makes you move your ass since the beginning. Love the live performances of this song, Katy nails them and shows she is reallu improved both from the vocal point of wiev as well as from the performer one.
9/10
5-
Unconditionally: to me, this is probably the best ballad katy has ever wrote/sung (at the same level of “Thinking of you”). There's such a great message in this song: love who you want, wheter he is gay/straight/transgender because, as Katy reminds us, “Acceptance is the key to be truly free”.
9.5/10
6-
Dark Horse: don't like the song so much, the chorus never explodes, Juice J part is kinda useless and frustrating to me. One of the few songs of the album I usually skip (except when I listen to PRISM with my sister, she loves the “are you ready for the perfect storm” part).
5/10
7-
This Is how we do: another potential hit. Fun, catchy, even if I don't understand why Katy asks to bring the beat back when the song is coming to the end.
8.5/10
8
-International Smile: if this doesn't become a single I'm gonna call Capitol and screw at them. I love this song so bad, love when she screams the names of the cities before the chorus.
9.5/10
9-
Ghost: i feel like this is the sequel of “the one that got away”, and I think that with the right video it could be very successfull. Love the pre-chorus (with every kiss and every letter, every promise of forever) and the bridge.
9/10
10-
Love Me: to me, this is a filler. Hate this song, skip it everytime.
4/10
11-
This Moment: i like it, I can't say it is one of my favourite. I thinks that Katy “screams” a little bit too much in the chorus, but i love the text.
7/10
12-
Double Rainbow: for a collaboration with Sia, I would have expected more. But this song is not bud: is relaxing, touching even if maybe it misses that little spark.
7/10
13-
By the grace of God: I can't relate to this song, probably because I'm not religious. By the way I love the interpretation Katy gives to this song, it looks like it is really important to her.
7/10
14-
Spiritual: another filler. Skip it.
4/10
15-
It Takes Two: the song on the deluxe edition that should have with no doubts made the standart (instead of Love Me). Such a beautiful song, the touch ef Emeli Sande is present and strong. Love the lyrics and Katy's voice. It'll never be extracted as a single, but i'd love to.
9/10
16-
Choose your battles: I quite like it, not one of my favourite but it's cute. Everyone I see is starting falling in love with this song: we'll see if it'll be the same for me.
6/10
To conclude, I really like this album (I would have arranged the tracklist in a different way btw). It's not that immediate as TD was, it's not so full of certain hit, as TD was, but I think it's much more coherent with the person Katy is now, a mix of fun and happyness but also a woman who has been through a lot in the past few years.
Final Mark:
7.5/10
Favourite:
Birthday, Unconditionally, International Smile, Ghost and It takes two
Least favourite:
Love Me, Spiritual, Dark Horse
