Exactly. If the GP could relate to Applause, hence why it's managed to stay in the iTunes top 10 for a few weeks, they would have done it with Venus. Interscope wasn't comfortable with Gaga's choice for second single and once they realize DWUW was going to sell quick, they precipitated and chose it as second single.

I agree. Gaga needs to get her Rhythmic audience back, and having R Kelly on the track is going to help a lot with that. Venus would've flopped.

It's the same thing except keeping it behind closed doors which Gaga should have done honestly. Who's to say that Taylor was planning to release "I knew you were trouble" all along. The shade was cute though.

Why stick to a plan, when it's going to result in the destruction of the era? Honor? Interscope was probably planning on switching Venus the moment they heard it. It would have flopped everywhere and basically be an even worse Judas. DWUW instead is going to be a much bigger success.

It's top 50 on Pop songs without any adds date in sight. Without this being announced as a single, that's unheard of for a Katy Perry song. This means that radio stations are spinning the song on their own merit and without any push/solicitation from Capitol Records.
People are worrying that --
a) it could interfere with Unconditionally; or
b) it would run out of steam by the time it's actually released as a single.
The best option at this point is to make Dark Horse an album-only track on iTunes. Unfortunately, radios can't be "stopped" from playing songs, so they're going to play it as long as people are requesting it.
