Global single sales are a useless receipt due to the disruptive effect of the Asian market, the extremely low single sales in many relevant countries, and more importantly, the sheer lack of data. Chart positions, chart runs, Mediatraffic, those are proper ways to gauge the success of a single. Not global single sales.
