ARTPOP might get lower first week numbers than Katy so I don't get why her numbers are something to laugh at. Look at who's done better with the pre-orders this fall. It hasn't been Gaga.
In the end BTW only sold 2.1 million being outsold by 21 and Teenage Dream who's opening weeks were much lower.
TD had 5 US #1 singles, several other Top 10 hits, a re-release, a movie, Katy appeared at every event possible, her songs were played every 10 minutes on radio.
Teenage Dream should have done The Fame numbers in the US, but welp.

Katy Perry's numbers are fine. Lady Gaga, coming off of "The Fame Monster" and being arguably
the biggest star in the world, only opening with 600 G's (minus the desperate Amazon deal)
is pretty non-impressive, and frankly, just bad -- especially when Drake can pull
those numbers with literally less than half the effort. But to each their own.

What's desperate is thinking that it would've only opened with 600k. That's making the brainless assumption that the demand for the album would have been 0 at full price for every single person who bought the album on Amazon. Many people may have just bought it on Amazon because it was cheaper. Clearly it wouldn't have sold the same number without Amazon, but to say it would've only sold 600k is pretty elementary. It's really not that difficult of a concept.
