So, you're saying it's better for a pop star to not have a huge era because of some unreasonable expectation?

No. What I'm saying is that it's only down from the top. The Fame Monster didn't hurt Gaga, as the transition from Paparazzi to Bad Romance went pretty smoothly. I remember it only becoming a standalone release really late in the process, everyone thought she was going to do a re-release. There was a relatively small break between the two albums. I think it didn't feel as much as THE grand followup to The Fame, it was more like a continuation. She did take several steps down during Born This Way however, that is undeniable.
Ofcourse success is not a bad thing but it actually creates a lot of differences. Look at Carly Rae Jepsen: she had the biggest hit of 2012 but will she be able to do something nearly as succesful in the future? I doubt it. (I'd love to be surprised however, her album was great.)

The promo schedule and her label (that thread about it being a marathon rather than a sprint or something) says otherwise. I am pretty sure they want to reach a similar amount of success. Maybe not 5 #1's or I don't know how many she had but at least more than one. I can't read her mind though, neither am I claiming to, I'm just going off by what I'm seeing.
