It really was a stupid move to release it because of the iTunes positions, which were ridiculously fueled by the pre-order downloads. Literally any song off the album would have had the same chart "success".
It'll be interesting to see if it becomes a real hit on its own merit or becomes somewhat like "Blah Blah Blah" (although I doubt it would sell 2 million copies with a peak of only ~45 million A.I).
