I'm glad it's not.

I rather take the slow climb to the top then shoot up like Roar. That's how Roar got screwed out of #1 for a few weeks in a row. Anyway I expect it to have its best sales the closer it gets to Christmas.

I think the 2nd single release was executed well.

I am glad it hasn't shot into the top spot yet. It'll need time to grow. The sales for Unconditionally are now being split into single and album sales (unlike Roar, which had purely single sales). This is how most post-album-release singles perform.

They did the same thing with California Gurls and Teenage Dream a few years back. CG was still top 5 on iTunes and had reached its peak on radio when TD was sent to radio and digital retailers.

This. Unconditionally has had zero promo. Once she performs this a few times and releases the video and airplay keeps gaining she should get another #1. I have a feeling she will promote this song like crazy. Firework was her favorite song last year and the amount of promo it had was crazy, so I expect nothing less than that for this seeing as she said its her favorite. She will do whatever it takes for this to go #1

make sense, they know what they are doing

and you are right i prefer a steady rise instead of be #1 right now and reach the peak so soon in the race

i assume that the expectation for this single is to be still kicking until maybe the last weeks of January
