i mean that's just them trying to sell the album, and either way it was released as a promo single because they felt that Venus would've been a better choice as a second single, so of course they're a little shocked DWUW was received much better.
i think it's doing even remotely well is because everyone assumed it was the next official single, considering it's been months since any release after Applause. like people just assumed it was the next major release. the reception would've probably been the same if Venus was released given the same timing.
this will become her biggest radio hit. It actually has rhythmic appeal! Gaga coming for that US #1 tbh
