My theory has always been that fans of other pop stars resent Kelly because she is basic by pop star standards but has had success that is not proportional to her level of basicness. I guess that's what being a grounded and genuinely decent person with massive vocal talent can get you. She doesn't need tricks or gimmicks she just has a loyal fanbase who love her for what she is. Maybe it's something else though, I'm not sure
