In most European countries people can speak or understand english. I'm from Latinamerica and could perfectly understand Applause's lyrics. But the song did what It could, let's move onto better things and be thankful to Gaga for creating the R&B masterpiece that is DWYW!

I think Applause underperformed WW because it doesn't sound very current, it sounds more like something that would have come out in 2010.
