It's a bad song. That's what made it flop, not the fact that it's risky. A RTW type situation. There's nothing risky about a girl power anthem. There's a difference between bad and risky.
Lyrics are irrelevant in pop music. The song is very risky. There's never been a hit like it. The heavy electro production, the lack of hook. It's definitely a lot like Greyhound in that regard, also a flop.
