Someone intelligently pointed out that Circus, the album, is sort of a representation of Britney's entire career. The beginning of the album sounds like Blackout, then you go deeper and it gets In the Zoney with Blur and its sistrens, and the final track is a throwback to Britney's dreary Dear Diary and E-Mail My Heart on her first album.

OMG WTF
Blur sounds EXAAAAAAACTLY like a song that fits perfectly on blackout.
It legit should have been track number 8 after Get naked and freakshow and then coming back to everything being a blur. That and the mood is so blackout. I've said that for the past 5 years.
ITZ was college years experimentation. Blackout was out of control hot mess self destructive perfect for Blur.
I feel like circus is just a play at her strengths from her first 5 albums but I wouldn't go that far.
Womanizer sounds like circus era
circus sounds like circus era
Out from blunder sounds like a karoake mess
Kill the lights could have been on in the zone
shattered glass could have been on Britney
If u seek amy um let's say in the zone at the peak of her sex symbol status
unusual you sounds like circus era
blur...Directly after freakshow on blackout
mmm poopoo...sounds like one of her messiest...well, therefore, fits blackout. Oh wow after piece of me. The paradox of fu paps to paps f'ng u. Genius
Mannequin sounds circus era
Lace and leather theme fits in the zone but sound would have thrown of the era so let's stick with circus era
My baby's got halitosis (i smell your breath it makes me cry) circus era
Radar sigh

Rock me in sounds like an int'l track that could have worked on britney era
Phonography is circus but could have perfectly fit the vibe of in the zone era
Amnesia is circus era and should have been as a bonus track to s&M remix with it's vocal similarities (congested nose and all)
Rock boy should have never existed and I'm still mad.

Trouble is circus era.
So it played to her strengths of her past and had a handful and balance peppering of britney's modern sound at the time.
