I can see why y'all would worry about DWUW killing Venus' buzz, but Venus will be the one that will get radio airplay/music video/the single treatment. In the end, it shouldn't matter as long as Venus is better than DWUW. Venus will SLAY.
They wouldn't choose Venus as the 2nd single if it wasn't better than DWUW. I mean, right? RIGHT?!
Listen to DWUW, Sex Dreams and G.U.Y. and then realize Applause was chosen as the lead single. So who knows if it is. I think Gaga was a bit surprised at how well DWUW was received tbh.

Well there is an actual explanation about TEoG. Gaga wanted it to be the final single from the beginning which was why it wasn't chosen as the second single. She talked about it in an interview before the album dropped that she wanted TEOG to be the final song and single
