Unconditionally is pretty ****. Katy's never gonna last if she makes the same music over and over again. I was hoping that recording with Klas Ahlund and B&A would give me some Robyn-lite bangerz but they kind of dissapointed me (This Is How We Flop + Walking On Air kind of make me bop tho)

She knows her audience, and she's doing her job. "Unconditionally" is a decent song and should do well. She'll last until the hits dry up, whenever that is. Right now, she's giving the public what they want. She's a pop star.

Can anyone explain why it's questionable? It's a chart by a legitimate company. It's kinda like how when the Navy questioned IFPI but the munsters were like "Nooo. IFPI is the only legitimate source for WW digital sales!". Now you have little munsters saying that this chart - run by Billboard - is not legitimate.

As a pop star, she should know that the hits will dry up if she does the same stuff over and over again. The key to longevity is variety. She should know, as she's a pretty big fan of Madonna.

Maybe Teenage Dream was a bit too succesful: now she doesn't really know where to go and what to do so she just decides to attempt to repeat its success.

I think there's some variety to her music, and "taking risks" and "having variety" have become overrated on this board. The same people who do these things eventually fail at them, while the one-trick ponies continue to prosper for years. Just look at P!nk and Christina Aguilera. People use the same argument for P!nk, yet she gets more hits, album sales and acclaim than the "risk-taker" Christina Aguilera. Not everyone is a Madonna, and Madonna is an anomaly. Katy knows her audience, and she knows what works for her in the present time.
