I actually somewhat miss the idea of sitting in front of the tv waiting to see your favorite music video. Seems more intimate than the fact that your favorite video is literally two clicks away now.

I used to wait up for the CIL video to air on MTV at 3 in the morn.
TRL has to be one of the most overrated video music shows ever. They promoted crap, played 20 seconds of the video and their interviews were bland. They had cute games and special countdowns, though.
The Box (now MTV2) was the best station for videos.

I now get tired of music videos really fast considering I watch them a hundred times in one day if I like them, but I like that currently any kind of artist can get big without the support of MTV or one of the top labels.
The Hobbit is still better than anyone other than PJ would have made it (he gets Middle Earth like no one else). It's just so incomplete because the book was NOT meant to be cut up like that When all three films are shown continuously as the one movie it was supposed to be it will slay. People were underwhelmed not because anything in the film was bad, but because it's only the set up with NO pay off.
