Bangerz opened with 250k in the US and 30k in the UK.
Her SNL episode bombed, her MTV documentary flopped, her CBS documentary tanked.
We Can't Stop has sold 3.4-3.5 million worldwide after 4 months and Wrecking Ball 1.5-1.6 million after 2 months with a super-controversial video that's nearing 300 million views on YouTube (for comparison, Applause has sold 2.2-2.3 million in 2 months.)
Miley's is more impressive b/c she's been around longer and it was a successful reinvention.
Her first few albums were just local non-events, though. CBT was quite controversial but local. Gaga was a US and WW sensation straight away and kept it up for 3 eras.
Hmm and that's worldwide. Yall don't even wanna see the US one.
Miley and twerking are infinitely more popular than anything Gargoyle did.
The twerking thing is more talked about than anything Gaga's done, but there's a difference between that and people buying in to what you're selling en masse.
Obviously Miley does have some numbers, but they don't really compare outside of Google trends. It'd be like saying Britney during her breakdown was some incomparable commercial force just because everyone was gawking at the time.
I thought you would be there when I go
You promised you would be there when I go
But all broken promises I won't miss
I'm finished, all I know all the facts
When I look you in the eyes, all I see are the lies
Been there done that

Her first two albums have sold over 7 million in the USA alone. So sure, local, but non-event? lmao.
Gaga only sold 6 million with TF/TFM era, which had a million huge hits and endless promo.

Miley's just tabloid fodder.
Nothing else.
Ikr. Gaga had a great music to back it up and Miley... she is new Paris Hilton but more successful and with better music.

TFM wasn't an album, if it was released as an album it would've sold a lot more. TFM was an EP being sold at an album price so obviously it would have sold more in the US if it was a full album.
And I do hope you're not counting Hannah Montana's album as Miley's. Even Miley doesn't want to be associated with that
Lol, in Germany her career would be pretty much over.
Miley Cyrus knows better than 'old Jewish men'
In an interview, the singer complains about record executives being too old to know what’s what. And who does she blame? Old Jewish men.
Quote:
Miley Cyrus’ tongue has gotten its fair share of press lately.
But the former “Hannah Montana” tween-star turned pro-twerker is now getting attention for something she actually said. In an interview with Hunger magazine, which she covers this month, Miley complained about record executives being too old to know what’s what.
And who does she blame? Old Jewish men.
“With magazines, with movies, it’s always weird when things are targeted for young people yet they’re driven by people that are like 40 years too old,” she said. “It can’t be like this 70-year-old Jewish man that doesn’t leave his desk all day, telling me what the clubs want to hear.”
She continued: ”I know when people walk off the dance floor and I know what’s driving it so I’ve got to be the one doing it because they’re just not in on what 20 year olds are doing.”
