and being that she takes part in the writing of the music, this is her expression. So before you call anyone out for being stupid, maybe you should take into account the definition of art, but then again art is subjective, it may NOT be art to you, but you won't be able to say what does what and what effect it has on other people. If an empty white room is set up by an "artist" as their way to express "life," it is art, it is their art; so if in essence, that is art, then so is anything anybody puts out as their expression of life, or something therein.

As you said, art is subjective. If I choose to believe what she does is just release ultra-commercial meaningless music instead of art, would that be wrong? She has shamelessly stated she is desperate for commercial success.

You choose to believe her music is so artistic () and that's fine, you're being subjective and that's allowed in art. What makes your position correct and mine incorrect? The one that needs to think outside of the box might not be me.

Art is subjective but it's art. Whether something is art or not is not subjective.

I doubt people listen to Lady Gaga's music and think "OH GOD SHE'S SO ARTISTIC"

But that doesn't mean she's not an artist You can believe that her music is meaningless, but that's your own opinion. It has no bearing on whether she's an artist, just that you don't care for her music.
