Why did Heartbreaker drop so fast?
All these Beliebers were dubbing it 'Chartbreaker'...but it hasn't broken any charts, and it's already at #12 on the US iTunes. Why'd it drop so fast?

Anyways, had no promotion, no performances, no advertisements, JUST uploaded to VEVO, NEVER sent to radios, etc. Did you expect it to reign with nobody but his stanbase knowing about it?
It's not like it's an ACTUAL LEAD SINGLE for an ACTUAL ALBUM, so idk why people expected it to debuted at #1 or smthn.

No, I didn't expect it to reign...but I did expect it to stay in the top ten for more than like a day.

it did go to #1 pretty quickly though, so one can only imagine his chart performance with the actual singles from his next album with promo and performances and such

And you probably also didn't expect for him to be releasing a new song in 3 days, and 8 more songs after that.
He didn't put any promotion into this, because he isn't trying to make it smash. This is for the FANS, not the PROMOTION, CHARTS, OR ATTENTION. Thx you very much.

I come to ATRL and I had no idea of what this song was. Still foggy on what this actually is but I like it so that's all that really matters, I suppose.

Who brought Applause into this conversation? 
I think being the most followed person on twitter and having a platform of 45 million users is considered promotion. Especially when your avatar is an image of your new single and your background is the same with the promotional tag #MusicMondays.

How does Twitter Followers + Avatar of Single = Hit? 
I can think of plenty of artists with millions of Twitter followers, and avatars of their album/single flopping....
I mean the fact you had to reach to his Twitter account and say that was promotion of his song, and it should've made it a hit...

Katy + Gaga's singles are both still in the top ten and they are only a couple million behind Justin on Twitter...

I didn't say it equaled a hit. I'm saying that THAT in itself is promotion sis.
I'm not saying it should have been a hit. I don't really follow Justin and his music. What I'm saying is that, you argued that it's not about the promotion and there hasn't been "any"  promotion at all, and he is promoting it through his twitter account.
Let's not act like Twitter doesn't have an impact on promotion and sales because IT DOES. Anyway.

They have videos, performances, promotions, and are on radios 24/7. 
Let's not forget what happen to Applause before promotion kicked in, EVEN WHEN IT DID have some.
