Yea but Mariah's 2 flop albums situation isn't like X's. Mariah was never on the verge of being forgotten nor was her legacy in trouble.Xtina was completely surpassed by her peers Britney, Beyonce, & Pink.
X her career in a nutshell
-2002: She tries to rebel and do the bad girl image with Dirrty. People don't respond well to it because Britney already did it a year earlier with Slave 4 U. She's accused of copying Britney.
-2003:Experiments with eccentric wigs/hairstyles, outfits, & makeup. Gets called a tryhard/wannabe yet years later people like Rihanna, Katy, Gaga, Nicki start doing the same.
-2006/2007: She tries to bring soul back with her next era Back to Basics but gets overshadowed by Amy Winehouse's Back to Black.
-2010: She tries to go electronic/dance with Bionic. Gets accused of copying Gaga.
-2012/2013: Does a dance album when dance craze is dying. Ballads and retro/soul songs which are her style become the trend in 2013.
Xtina lucked out.
