Surely it's as simple as someone prematurely uploaded the FB banner with Gypsy, and they quickly removed it because they didn't want to announce the second single that way?

They wouldn't make a promotional banner with 'ARTPOP ft. Applause and Gypsy' accidentally, or before it was decided.

If Gaga wants Aura, I imagine this lyric video/promo track move is to test the waters. If it does nothing, it'll be clear that it should not be a future single.

There's nothing confirmed about this Gaga/Interscope talk guys.

Don't act like Gaga really wants "Aura" as the second single, which would be akin to what Interscope did with "Judas", ironically.

It wouldn't be that difficult though, release "Aura" as a promo single, then two weeks later release "Gypsy" as the second single. No need to drown in a glass of water.
