The only thing that bothers me about Miley is how success hungry she is.

Rihanna & Britney don't really seem to care and they just do their thing. Gaga seems like a really family-oriented girl who'll settle down with Taylor after she's done with ARTPOP or maybe another album era. P!nk said she wanted 5 kids, so God knows she's taking a hell of a break after TTAL era ends. Beyonce is touring but she also has a child, so she'll probably slow down too.
Miley is really someone who's hopefully gonna keep some interest generating for a while.
It's hard to say that the GP thinks songs like "When I Was Your Man" and "Stay" are seen as more credible than "Locked Out of Heaven" and "We Found Love," especially when the latter two outsold the former two and garnered more acclaim. I think you guys are going by some comments over the Internet and the small sample of people that you talk to on the daily.
LOoH & WFL are on another level. They were uptempos that will be one of the defining hits of both artists.
Uptempos can be more acclaimed than ballads if they are popular & impactful enough, & don't attract some unwanted controversy (like "Blurred Lines"; obviously more popular than Stay or WIWYM but not more credible).
In the end, it just depends on song quality. Locked Out of Heaven is better than When I Was Your Man, & We Found Love is better than Stay (opinion).
Miley's situation is somewhat different from Christina's. Miley's essence this era (and the last before, but more-so this era) has relied on shock-factor. And she's milked it to the point where it's debatable she won't recover. It's tainted her image drastically. Christina's was never that severe.
Clearly your memory is tainted. People thought Legend X was a prostitute after "Dirrty", which is FAR worse/dirty than anything Miley has done.
And yet she recovered with the classic Beautiful just months later and had a massive memorable era.
Miley is fine, she can convert to a country rock star in a few years and I'm sure she'd be fine.

During the Stripped era, Christina severely relied on shock factor as well. The controversial music videos, performances, outfits, appearances, her quotes, etc. That's what I'm saying. Miley won't recover just like Christina didn't, except Miley's situation will be much worse as Christina was much more popular.
