The honest truth is that the GP thinks a ballad is more credible than any other type of popular song in today's world. More specifically, a simple piano type ballad or a ballad that showcases great lyrical/vocal ability, like Stay When I Was Your Man (for piano & lyrics), I Will Always Love You (vocals), Just Give Me a Reason (lyrics, vocals, great vocal duet blend).

No surprise a lot of 80s/90s ballads are terrible and were looked down upon at some point. So many of them sound so dated.

That is also true.. Christina was obviously much more popular than Miley Cyrus is now. She claimed her spot in the industry. However the Stripped era was just full of gimmicks to garner attention/popularity/success, just like what Miley Cyrus is doing right now.

From the singles, it's Just Like a Pill (then Family Portrait, GTPS is third :eli). From album tracks, it's Waiting for Love.

It's hard to say that the GP thinks songs like "When I Was Your Man" and "Stay" are seen as more credible than "Locked Out of Heaven" and "We Found Love," especially when the latter two outsold the former two and garnered more acclaim. I think you guys are going by some comments over the Internet and the small sample of people that you talk to on the daily.
