This bias runs across all entertainment mediums. Except television, for the most part. Can't think of any other format where pretty much nobody argues that it used to be better than it is right now.
But mostly stans too. Rihanna releases these sleep inducing songs like Stay or What Now and they scream CLASSY RIH! ARTISTIC RIH! while they are nowhere near her best work, which is more uptempo and pop leaning stuff.
